Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) remains an under-recognised and underdiagnosed body image condition, despite being increasingly common and associated with significant distress and disturbances to quality of life.
This webinar will delve into the identification, diagnosis and treatment options for individuals experiencing BDD. We will also discuss considerations when working with individuals with BDD who may be interested in or seeking cosmetic surgery, in light of new Australian guidelines requiring patients to be screened for BDD before obtaining a procedure.

Presenter Biography:
Dr Toni Pikoos, Clinical Psychologist, BSc (Hons), PhD (Clinical Psychology)
Dr Toni Pikoos is a clinical psychologist and postdoctoral researcher from Melbourne, Australia. She is one of few psychologists with a special interest in the treatment and research of Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and other body image disorders. Her research centres around identifying patient motivations, expectations, and outcomes for cosmetic procedures.
Dr Pikoos is also the Co-Founder of ReadyMind, which develops psychological screening and consultation tools for use in the cosmetic industry, as well as training for cosmetic practitioners in supporting the emotional needs of their patients. Toni consults with patients remotely and in Melbourne where she provides therapy for individuals with BDD, as well as psychological evaluations for people considering surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures.
