  • Adhere to best practice clinical protocols in working with complex trauma
  • Attend to self-care by attending professional development, regular supervision and monitoring for vicarious trauma

Skills & Experience Required

You have a background providing counselling to survivors of complex childhood trauma and/or violence, or in mental health. Your knowledge and expertise in complex trauma, trauma dynamics and the impacts and effects of traumatic stress will see you succeed in this role.

You are responsive and flexible to work tasks, have a high level of emotional competency and are committed to upholding a recovery focused practice while working in a high demand trauma environment. You will also have:

  • A current membership or eligibility to a relevant professional body
  • Tertiary qualifications in counselling, social work or psychology
  • A person-centred approach to working with people
  • Skills in risk assessment, intervention and crisis management
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, excel, outlook and internet use)
  • The ability to work part time shifts - 3 to 5 day per week, with fixed week day shifts and rotating weekend shifts each month

Location: St Albans and/or Niddrie and/or Preston.

Remuneration:

$115,000 is a conservative estimate based on 5 clients per day, 5 days a week for 46 weeks per year. Remuneration will depend on the client load of the successful psychologist.

Purpose of the position:

Healthy Minds Allied Service is looking for a full-time or part-time registered psychologist who is able to take bookings in St Albans, Preston and/or Niddrie.

Healthy Minds aims to provide a responsive and flexible psychology service to clients. Psychologists will need to be able/willing to provide psychological services to a diverse client group including people of different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and a variety of clinical presentations. Psychologists can also have the opportunity to see clients of different ages (children and/or adults).

The psychologist will need to be able to take bookings for clients from a variety of referral sources (e.g., Medicare, TAC, WorkCover, NDIS). Healthy Minds requires psychologists to provide quality psychological services with a focus on the best possible outcome for the client.

Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:

  • Full registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Registration with Medicare to provide psychological services
  • ABN and professional indemnity insurance (or ability to gain these)
  • Experience/ability to work with clients with a variety of clinical presentations and different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Experience/ability to prepare psychological reports/letters for clients when needed
  • Experience/ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date client files
  • Experience/ability to establish effective working relationships with clients and other health professionals/service providers

The Role

Reporting directly to the Clinical Director this role manages the day-to-day development, operation, reporting and contractual obligations of the Helpline and Recovery Support Services (HL-RSS) team and ensuring services are being delivered in a professional, supportive, evidence based manner.

Butterfly’s Recovery Support Services provide high quality evidence based support and counselling services to anyone affected by eating disorders and body image issues through the delivery of support groups for carers, psychoeducation programs, provision of financial assistance for recovery and group programs.

Specifically you will:

  • Identify and advise on strategy and business development opportunities where Butterfly can grow into new service models and lead the grant writing or funding submissions
  • Lead in the development, implementation and continual review of policies and procedures to ensure the highest of standards
  • Recruit, manage, develop and provide clinical leadership, supervision and coaching to staff and student placements that fosters a team based culture
  • Build deeper referral pathways and ongoing care processes with PHNs, general practice, other mental health services and relevant sector agencies
  • Monitor data collection, analyse and interpret data to report on and evaluate services
  • Represent Butterfly at events, in the media as required and contribute to the promotion, awareness and visibility of the Helpline and Recovery Support Services

Skills Required

You have substantial experience in a clinical or case management environment including the delivery of group programs and telehealth services. You are flexible and can work in a fast paced environment, with fluctuating demands and meet the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in psychology or social work
  • Current registration with a relevant professional body
  • Excellent understanding of eating disorders, disordered eating, body image and related issues
  • Experienced in management of a service delivery team including the development of new programs
  • Familiarity with providing clinical supervision to a multi-disciplined team and developing a team based service

The Role

You are responsive and flexible to work tasks, have a high level of emotional competency and are committed to upholding a recovery focused practice while working in a high demand trauma environment. You will also have:

  • A current membership or eligibility to a relevant professional body
  • Tertiary qualifications in counselling or psychology
  • A person-centred approach to working with people
  • Skills in risk assessment, intervention and crisis management
  • Intermediate computer skills (Word, excel, outlook and internet use)

Strong Families Trial Parenting Program - Western Sydney University

Bilingual Group Facilitator (Casual)

Job opportunity for higher degree students or new graduates in the fields of Nutrition, Dietetics, Psychology, Social Work and Counselling

Location: Remote - work from home

The Strong Families Trial is an innovative Randomised Controlled Trial that will test the effectiveness of an integrated package of parenting and lifestyle interventions to prevent unhealthy weight gain and improve the family environment among disadvantaged culturally diverse populations.

The program is delivered in two stages. The first stage is a 6-week group program that consists 6 weekly 90-min online sessions covering both healthy lifestyle and positive parenting modules. The second stage is delivered after 8 weeks. Participants return for a 2-week online booster session (2 x 45-min) on healthy lifestyles and parenting. Each group of 6-8 research participants will be assigned to two facilitators; one to deliver the Lifestyle modules and booster, and one to deliver the Parenting modules and booster.

Opportunity

The Strong Families Trial seeks to appoint several Bilingual Group Facilitators to deliver the Strong Families Trial Parenting Program online to groups of 6-8 research participants.

The Group Facilitator will have a welcoming, empathetic and a committed approach to delivering engaging and inclusive group sessions in an online environment.

Research participants (parents or carers of children aged 5-11 years) will be recruited from target communities across Greater Western Sydney and Melbourne. These target communities may speak English, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi, or Vietnamese. Therefore, Group Facilitators may be required to conduct the group sessions in English or another language.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate online group sessions and deliver the Strong Families Parenting Program content using respectful communication; and affirmative techniques, such as developing trust, listening and engaging with participants.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality.
  • Participate in evaluation and quality assurance activities for the program.

The Applicant

To be a part of our team of Group Facilitators, you are required to meet the following key selection criteria:

  • Spoken and reading proficiency in English and one or more of Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi or Vietnamese.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in dietetics, nutrition, psychology, social work, counselling or similar and eligibility for membership to a relevant professional body.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time management skills, including the capacity to pay attention to detail, multi-task and meet deadlines and ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and establish effective working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Previous experience in delivering structured programs to groups, ideally to parents or people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Paid 5+1 Internship Program with Condor Performance

2 Positions Available 

Condor Performance is one of Australia’s leading providers of sport and performance psychology services. Established in 2005 by sport psychologist and AAPi member Gareth J. Mole, Condor Performance is now a team of eleven sport psychologists and performance psychologists.

In 2021 they will be offering two future psychologists a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ to join their team via paid placements. These placements will be 1,400 hours in duration and are designed to meet all the requirements of the AHPRA 5+1 Internship Program as detailed here. This includes the eighty hours of supervision that will be delivered by two or more of our four board-approved supervisors at no cost to the provisional psychologists.

The successful candidates with be provided with unparalleled insight into the sport and performance psychology sector. They will have the opportunity to work directly with at least fifty of their own sporting/performance clients over the course of the placement and be in ‘pole position’ to join Condor Performance on a permanent basis after obtaining full registration as a psychologist.

The two provisionally registered psychologists will be part-time employees requiring an Australian Tax File Number. Starting pay will be $30 an hour with the possibility of an increase to $35 an hour based on performance. Each role will require the availability of 17.5 hours a week meaning that these paid placements are designed to last for 80 weeks in total (17.5 hours a week x 80 weeks = 1400 hours). Fortnightly pay will therefore be $1,050 (before tax) plus an extra 10% superannuation contribution. The 17.5 hours a week will be partially flexible with the probability of 3 x 5 hour weekly “shifts” that get agreed upon at the start of each month with the remaining 2.5 hours designed to be 100% flexible.

About the role

Contract Positions - North and West of Melbourne

Healthy Minds Allied Services is a Nationally Registered NDIS Service and that is looking for Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners and/or Psychologists to join our team. 

Healthy Minds Allied Services is a growing Positive Behaviour Support and Therapy practice working with NDIS participants of all ages and abilities. You will be part of a friendly team of Psychologists and Behaviour Support Practitioners located in the north and west of Melbourne (main office located in Niddrie). 

We are seeking several clinicians to work with NDIS participants around the western and northern parts of Melbourne. We are looking for practitioners who have, or are keen to, develop skills to assess, design and deliver  Positive Behaviour Support  interventions to participants.

We are also seeking  registered psychologists  to provide  therapeutic support  to clients with a disability.  The option to combine behaviour support referrals and therapeutic work (psychological therapy) can be provided to suitable applicants.

Qualifications and Experience

Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner

  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of the support needs of people with disability across home and community settings
  • Experience and/or training in functional behavioural assessments
  • Have a good understanding of positive behaviour support approaches 
  • Knowledge of restrictive practices and understanding of existing frameworks
  • Ability to provide training and education to participants' families and support teams around the management of behaviour 
  • Willingness to provide assessments and support for participants within their homes or accommodation services (travel may be payable for out-of-office sessions). 
  • Highly developed report writing and behavioural data analysis skills

Psychologist

  • Full registration with AHPRA as a psychologist
  • Knowledge and/or experience providing therapy to clients with a disability (or a willingness to learn)
  • Knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions appropriate when supporting clients with a disability
  • Conduct assessments, develop therapeutic plans and culturally appropriate clinical support
  • An understanding of, and experience using, a range of relevant assessment tools
  • Highly developed report writing skills

Skills and desired for all applicants:

  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work and communicate effectively with participants, their families, community agencies and other professionals
  • Current drivers' licence and access to own transportation
  • Understanding of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission practice standards and the NDIA Code of Conduct and any State Based Restricted Practice Authorisation requirements.
  • Membership of/registration with a professional body (e.g. AHPRA, ACWA, ABAA)
  • Your own ABN
  • Professional indemnity insurance 
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Police check, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Worker Screening and a Working with Children Check prior to confirmation of appointment to the position
