Changes to NSW Public Health Orders
Posted on 27 June 2022
The Public Health (COVID-19 Vaccination of Health Care Workers) Order 2022 mandating COVID-19 vaccination for Stage 2 healthcare workers (this included private practice psychologists) is no longer in force in NSW. The NSW Government has notified us this is because the requirements for COVID-19 vaccination of health care workers is transitioning from Public Health Orders to a workplace health and safety risk assessment model. Under this model, employers will conduct their own risk assessments and consider vaccination requirements for their workplaces. You can find out more about business risk assessments here: https://www.safework.nsw.gov.au/resource-library/COVID-19-Coronavirus.
Please note the Care services public health order remains in force, mandating health care workers in aged care and disability services (including NDIS) to be ‘appropriately vaccinated’ (at least 3 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine).
Mandatory Vaccination will remain a condition of employment for some workplaces including NSW Health.
