Kathy Ramsey Janse Van Nieuwenhuizen, is a First Nations woman, descendent of Far North QLD Mamu – Bagirbarra Dyirribara people and Philippines.
Kathy grew up on Mparntwe country (Alice Springs) and has worked in community service for over 20 years. Completing her diploma in Counselling, AOD, Advance Diploma in Community Sector Management and later graduating through Melbourne University in Masters of Narrative Therapy and Community Work in 2023. Kathy’s main practice is ‘Yarning with Purpose, Yarning on Country’, she is utilising these skills and providing a holistic and decentred approach to individuals and their families.
Kathy currently works for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) at Central Australian Aboriginal Congress as an Aboriginal Practice Manager. Leading a team of First Nations Case Managers, Case Workers and Wellbeing Support Workers. Kathy also runs the Arelhe Apurte-irreme (Women Together) Group a program that she co-facilitates with a local Arrernte Social Worker.
