PAT - Exploring the Synergies

Women’s Hormones, Neurological Function, and Psychedelic Therapy

AAPi’s Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT) Interest Group presents this webinar designed to deepen our understanding of the complex interactions between women’s hormonal mechanisms, neurological functioning, and responses to psychedelic therapies. This session targets professionals seeking to advance scientific and therapeutic knowledge of psychedelics, with a special focus on women’s health.

Dr Grace Blest-Hopley from the UK based Hystelica will explore how female hormones significantly impact neurological functioning and stress responses, influencing mental health and contributing to conditions unique to women. Grace will also discuss the potential of psychedelics to provide novel treatments for these conditions, highlighting how these substances interact with the female endocrine system.

The presentation will:

  • address the emerging evidence for sex-specific differences in responses to psychedelics
  • emphasise the need for a nuanced approach that considers these differences to enhance safety and efficacy in clinical settings, and
  • showcase the latest research and theoretical applications, underscoring the critical gap these therapies could fill in current medical practices.

As an organisation, Hystelica is committed to the safe and effective use of psychedelics for women. This talk is designed not only to educate and inform but also to inspire further research and dialogue on implementing sex-specific practices in psychedelic therapies.

Join us as we delve into this groundbreaking topic, which promises to spur both innovative treatments and dynamic discussions in the field of women's health and psychedelic medicine.
