Promoting healthy masculinities

Promoting healthy masculinities for boys and young men through positive masculinity.

This webinar explores approaches framed around healthy masculinity. We review some of the key research, applications and practices particularly as they relate to schools and sporting environments.

Our presenter is Ray Swann, Executive Director of the Foundation for Positive Masculinity, a not-for-profit charity based in Melbourne. The Foundation supports healthy masculinity programs within schools, runs parent and teacher programs, as well as cultural evaluations.

Ray is the first international member of the APA Task Force 51 for boys in schools, a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Melbourne Faculty of Medicine (Education), and an honorary lecturer at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He has worked as a teacher in single gender (boys and girls), coeducational (public and private) schools in Victoria and currently manages the Crowther Centre for Applied Research at Brighton Grammar.

Ray is the author of: The Seven Stories – Planting Seeds for Positive Masculinity, is an internationally published author and academic reviewer, and is a board member for Building up Boys an NGO based in New Jersey, USA.
