Cultivating a Sustainable Career

Take a moment to reflect on the initial aspirations you held as you embarked on your journey to become a psychologist. Can you remember envisioning a career filled with ease, deep fulfilment, and genuine impact? Perhaps you imagined yourself thoroughly enjoying your work, feeling invigorated by it, and reaping financial abundance?

Now, consider your current reality. Does it align with that idealised version, or have the demands of clinical practice moved you onto a path of overwhelm, fatigue, and the all-too-familiar experience of burnout?

If you find you’ve drifted away from the professional vision you once held, rest assured, you’re not alone. But here’s the thing - it doesn’t have to be this way.

What if you could reclaim that initial vision and cultivate a career path filled with balance, joy, energy, abundance, and fulfilment? A path that defies burnout and embraces sustainability?

In this webinar we will focus on aspects that can help you do just that. We’ll help you:

  • Understand what being a sustainable therapist actually means
  • Consider a uniquely simple yet comprehensive framework for sustainability
  • Be aware of the common schemas that can get in the way
  • Learn various ways to cultivate sustainability within your business or workplace so you can get closer to your ideal career vision
  • Hold sustainability in mind before and while you move towards the end of the year and into what can be a stressful stage.

About the Presenter: Rebecca Black
Rebecca Black is a Psychologist and Coach with a genuine passion and commitment to sustainability. Her journey into this space was motivated by diagnoses of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, which significantly restricted her capabilities and contributed to various bouts of burnout in her studies and career. Unable to accept this version of life (despite being told she had to), Rebecca dedicated her time and energy to researching, understanding, and personally applying various wellness principles until she was finally able to overcome her chronic illnesses and start living a truly sustainable life.

Now that she’s healed, Rebecca manages two businesses of her own. She runs a solo private practice where she provides clinical services to health professionals and individuals living with chronic illness. Here, she typically works within a schema therapy framework, incorporating a variety of different modalities. Rebecca is also the founder of Sustainable Therapists which is a coaching practice that guides psychologists and other helping professionals to create the sustainable career and life that they truly desire.

When she is not in the office (which is quite often!), she is connecting with nature and loved ones, moving her body in whatever way she feels called to, or trying to pat as many dogs as possible.
