New Member Benefit - Peer Supervision Drop-In Sessions

Posted on 16 July 2024

We are thrilled to introduce an exciting new benefit for AAPi members: Peer Supervision Drop-In Sessions!

These sessions are designed to provide a supportive and enriching environment for psychologists to enhance their professional knowledge, confidence, and networking opportunities on an ad hoc basis.

In listening to the needs of members, these sessions will support the following:

  • Professional development. These sessions will enhance members' professional knowledge and skills through informal peer discussions and guidance from experienced supervisors.
  • Confidence building. These sessions will provide a safe space for members to discuss cases, seek advice, and build confidence in their clinical or professional practice.
  • Resource sharing. The sessions will facilitate the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices among peers to enrich professional growth.
  • Reduce isolation. We know many members feel isolated, and these sessions will further attempt to combat this professional isolation by fostering a sense of community and support among psychologists.

Each session will be 90 minutes and cover various topics relevant to psychology practice. The sessions will be structured to allow for open discussions, case presentations, and exploration of relevant issues.

The sessions will be facilitated by Ahpra board-approved supervisors or experienced psychologists and capped at 6 participants to ensure an intimate and effective learning experience. To cover the supervisor’s time, these sessions will cost $50 per participant. The sessions do not replace regular supervision, and while provisional psychologists and registrars are welcome to attend, these sessions are not designed to replace the supervision required for these programs.
