AAPi President Update

Posted on 1 March 2024

I can’t believe it is March already, and we’re less than three weeks away from our spectacular inaugural AAPi Conference in Brisbane!

I’m looking forward to more opportunities to connect with members this year, so please feel free to contact us or connect with me on the AAPi Forum and let me know what you’re keen to know more about or areas that you’re interested in that AAPi can support you with.

2024 has gotten off to a roaring start, and my head and heart have been full with helping to organise our conference, as well as all the news and changes to substantial equivalence in Areas of Practice Endorsement. Our legal and operations teams have been working hard to push through these changes and disseminate information to members, and it feels like a real turning point in the psychology profession.

The excitement for the AAPi Conference is palpable. The number of world-class speakers presenting and the breadth and depth of topic areas are much more than we could have hoped for our first national conference. To have our Founding President, Paul Stevenson OAM, opening the conference, Dr Tracy Westerman AM presenting a keynote speech, and modern psychology legends like Dr Michael Carr-Gregg and Dr Tess Crawley presenting, I’ve got to say that I’m experiencing a bit of imposter syndrome sharing a stage with them! There is so much to learn and experience, and I look forward to immersing myself in all the workshops and talks on offer for the three days. I’m also looking forward to meeting with members in person! Please come and say hi.

I look forward to seeing you at the conference. Yours in unity.
